7 Ways To Manage Nausea Naturally

If you have migraine and tend to get nauseated a lot.... blech, I feel you!

Even when I’m not actively in a migraine episode I've struggle with nausea, so I’m always looking for tricks to deal with it naturally. Obviously if it’s severe and you can’t keep anything down, medication or a trip to the ER is probably in order. But for your average case of yuckiness, try some of these tricks!

Ginger Beer

My all time favorite! It’s nonalcoholic and made with real ginger and less sugar than ginger ale. I really love Fever Tree - it has little bits of ginger in it and comes in smaller bottles perfect for sipping.

Peppermint Essential Oil

You need to use the good stuff, but a drop of this on my tongue usually gets rid of nausea for a bit (and any bad breath, bonus!). I like this one Young Living because it's specifically made to be used internally, but other higher-end brands like doTerra should work just as well!

Ice

There’s nothing quite as soothing as chomping on crushed ice. It also helps if you have head pain too!

Citrus

This isn’t for everyone, but for some people (like me) sucking on lemon or something acidic really helps get rid of nausea! You can also add a squeeze of lemon to your tea (maybe peppermint?) for a less intense experience.

Popsicles or Ice Cream

I’m a huge fan of Outshine fruit bars and Yasso greek yogurt bars - they’re not TOO high in sugar and tend to have more brain-friendly ingredients (no artificial weird stuff!).

Cool Air

Set up camp in front of a fan and take some nice deep breaths: ahhhhhh .

Address Post-Nasal Drip

If you have allergies or tend to get congested as part of your migraine symptoms, it could be a big part of why you feel nauseated. Remove yourself from allergy triggers if possible and take any necessary meds.
